Available June 21, 2011 at 11 AM EDT

A classic shape with Danish influence and refined styling, these pipes are superlative examples of the craftsmanship that has made Jeff Gracik’s J. Alan pipes so coveted by collectors. Gracik strongly believes in studying the work of great makers, legends like Lars Ivarsson, Jess Chonowitsch and Bo Nordh. “Reinterpreting the old means being able to reinterpret that which has been done,” says Gracik. “You can’t make something new if you don’t know what is old. You can’t break the rules if you don’t know what the rules are. Deviating from a pattern with flexibility to express myself is important. ” That philosophy is well represented in the 2011 pipe of the year. It’s a traditional shape with modern modifications and artistic interpretation. Each is approximately 2.0 inches tall by 5.5 inches long. The tobacco chamber diameter is 0.75 inches with a depth of 1.75 inches. Each pipe weighs approximately 1.75 ounces. The two magnums are of course different: 2.5 inches high by 7.5 inches long.
